Poems, February 2004:

SOLITUDE WE WEAR

The solitude we wear is wearing off us now
That grin you are holding from ear to ear
Is keeping me on edge
You believe that I am shaping you
Into this walking plague
When the truth comes crumbling to the ground,
Don’t look at me
You can believe what’s wrong
However you will find out soon enough
Whoever you accuse will backfire
The blame will lie solely on you

They point their fingers at you
Don’t look around
We thrust our wrath at you
Because you’re standing in our way
You have acquired thought for two
It has happened to me before
Now it’s all for you
When the truth comes crumbling to the ground,
Don’t look at me
You can believe what’s wrong
However you will find out soon enough
Whoever you accuse will backfire
The blame will lie solely on you.

PLEASE STAY WITH ME

I think I’ve run out of words to speak
What is the use anyway?
Pick up what I’ve dropped on the floor
That cannot be used anymore
Play my violin so softly
So no one can hear
Because if they can
They’ll do what I fear
I think I’ve misunderstood the reason
I have to sit here all alone
Maybe it is because, of course, I’ve got nowhere to go
No one wants me
And no one will care
Enough to hold me so warm
Tucked in with his arms so tight around me
No one is here for me
When I need them most
Please come and
Won’t you please stay?

I’ve done what I wanted for too long now
Staying locked up in my room
God, I don’t know how
I’ve been waiting a long time
But I don’t think it’s coming
To see the words you’ve written
Begging isn’t quite enough
One more day of this
And I think I just might explode
Not able to take much more
Lying dead
Sprawled across the floor
I sit in the middle
The world in full-motion
Spinning around me
I’ll be here
Day in and day out and
My feet won’t move an inch
Please come and
Won’t you please stay?

Please stay with me
For just a little while
To torment me is to say that you don’t love me
But according to you
That just simply isn’t true.

RED ON THE CARPET

She’s falling apart there crying
Alone and so far away
She’s laid down on both knees
Hands grasping the floor
Looking past what’s faced her
Seeing below
Not ready to go
The red on the carpet
Won’t catch her eyes
She’s already realized
The drops don’t change color

Her soul has left her
What’s still there is making its way
Looking up, she hopes to see him
And in plain sight
Her vision is empty
She screams an empty, hopeful scream
Her strength, she knows,
Will not redeem
The red on the carpet
Won’t catch her eyes
She’s already realized
The drops don’t change color.
