Poems, November 2004:

Buried

Fumbling in the daylight
I know they're not searching for me
Hidden beneath the very ground you walk on
You buried me and left me breathing
I am suffocating, clenching my teeth
No one hears me scratching at these walls
The ground is rotting from the inside out
And I can smell it in my skin
Soon I'll be taking my last breath in
And I'll become one of them.

Found

Walking with your head held high
Your denims are as blue as your eyes
Being carried by the night,
I see the grace in your painful cries
But you see darkness in a blur
While all the world causes a stir
You carry weight that brings you to the ground
I see a whole new world that you have found
Where peace will find you in your sleep
Wher ethe stars are always yours to keep
And you can stay forever
Because you're not welcome here.

Cover Your Eyes

I have found reasons to forget you
Just as I found you alone
I wonder what your secrets look like
Because I never knew
You're covering my eyes and shouting in my ears
What am I supposed to see?
Because I see nothing
Though I feel your presence
I know it's an illusion
My eyes will seek for you
There's nowhere to hide
And when I find you,
I'll cover your eyes too.

Just For Today

Just for today will I feel what I'm feeling now
Tomorrow I won't be all tied up in your anger
Just for tonight will I bleed quite excessively
Tomorrow my blood will fill me up inside
Just for this moment will this scream release my hatred
Tomorrow my silence will put smiles on their faces

Just for today will I run away and never come back
Tomorrow I'll be at your doorstep standing in the snow
Just for tonight I'll flicker in this dark room
Tomorrow I'll be burning bright in the daylight
Just for this moment will I feel too alone to cry
Tomorrow I'll be greeted with laughter that doesn't end.

This Empty Day

I open my eyes
And the whole world is tinted with blue
The white snow has melted
Yet the air remains frozen
We exchange glances
As we look to the sky
Where the clouds are hiding the sun
The ground is so vacant
As I search for anything
On this empty day.

The First Snowfall

The day of the first snowfall
Bring sadness into your eyes
As the chill settles in your skin
The last leaf has yet to reach the ground
And you wish for nothing less
The icy windows fogging up
Show nothing but themselves
The sunlight brings no warmth today
And tonight, the stars won't either.

Fool

Am I amusing?
Could I fool you if I tried?
But if I didn't try, would I be the fool?
If your love was mine, I'd have the world fooled.

Poem?

If only I could figure out how to figure everything out
Would everything be okay?

I Will See Again

Lighting strikes the open sky
Hidden above my closed eyes
There are no stars present tonight
And I will prove this with my mind's light

Hope is in your breath tonight
As you breathe your wisdom into the cold
Thrashing your snese into the world
Give me your hand and give me light
I will see again

Thunder rumbles in the darkness
Tell yourself you're not scared
Just keep walking this familiar path
And your secrets will be shut behind closed doors

Hope is in your breath tonight
As you breathe your wisdom into the cold
Thrashing your snese into the world
Give me your hand and give me light
I will see again

Your ears hear the sound of footsteps
Why are you running?
I thought you were hopeful.
